Key Capture Energy Signs Agreement with Sungrow to Procure Battery Systems for 390 MW of New Battery Storage Projects
Albany, NY – September 30, 2021 – Key Capture Energy, LLC (“KCE”), a leading developer, owner and operator of energy storage projects in the United States, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Sungrow Americas (“Sungrow”), the San Francisco headquartered subsidiary of the global leading inverter solution and energy storage supplier for renewables, to purchase fully integrated two-hour battery systems for 390 megawatts (MW) of new battery storage projects set to commence construction in 2021 and 2022. This agreement designates Sungrow to provide the cells, enclosures, cabling, transformers, power converter system (PCS), and all software and controls systems, as well as to provide maintenance services on this tranche of projects.
Jeff Bishop, Co-founder and CEO of Key Capture Energy, said, “With 254 MW of battery storage projects in construction or operation today, Key Capture Energy welcome Sungrow as a new supplier and are pleased to partner with them on our next tranche of utility-scale battery storage projects. I thank our teams and partners for their dedication and hard work in achieving this exciting milestone.” He continued, “With SK E&S as Key Capture Energy’s new owner and our battery supply locked in through 2022, we look forward to collaborating closely with Sungrow to build and operate lasting and sustainable projects as KCE works to become the leading energy storage company in the United States.”
Sungrow, a leading inverter and battery energy storage system (BESS) supplier boasts over 24 years in the solar industry with the industry’s largest R&D Team. Sungrow will supply these KCE projects with its ST2752UX BESS unit and its PCS SC5000UD-MV. Sungrow’s Liquid Cooled technology significantly reduces costs as a result of its innovative technology. Capital and operating expenses are cut due to pre-assembly, easy on-site installation, and more effective cell working environment which slows capacity loss substantially.
Hank Wang, President of Sungrow Americas, stated, “We are pleased to work with Key Capture Energy. We’re supplying this project with our latest innovative BESS which provides stable, intelligent, and efficient energy storage.” He further added, “Key Capture Energy’s passion and dedication to the industry strongly aligns with our corporate mission. We are thrilled to add KCE to our list of established partners, as we work toward a more sustainable future and bringing clean power to all.”
Founded in 2016 with headquarters in Albany, NY and offices in Houston, TX, and Salt Lake City, UT, KCE has 254 megawatts (MW) of standalone energy storage projects in construction and operations and a development pipeline of over 3,000 MW of storage projects across the United States.
